While Aviva does have a point when she says the oral bagrut is already testing listening, there is another aspect to consider. We all know that what is tested influences our classroom teaching. Should the separate listening section be taken out of the Bagrut altogether, there would likely be a reduction in the use of tapes/CDs in classroom teaching, which would be a pity since pupils need to be exposed to a variety of accents - not just that of their own classroom teacher.
