Subject: civics teachers get paid for task
Just off the press-
The bagrut program in Civics is changing and teachers will now be guiding
students through a "matlat bitzuh" (task) in addition to having an exam. The
teachers will be compensated as follows:
0.4 hours of g'mul for a class doing the task AND 140 shekels per hour to
check the task - at the rate of 2 "tasks" per hour. ( 1 1/2 hours of class
time are also supposed to be spent on the project).
Of course, civics teachers also received g'mul in compensation for the time
spent to learn the new program. (I believe it was 1 hour a week for a year -
just like the lashon teachers).
Should we English teachers settle for anything less??
