Subject: The strike
I am glad to see Maxine's questions. At last someone (apart from Anonymous -
who I would also prefer for him/her to be identified, but that is a choice
which I respect) is asking them.
I see that there is no Strike Fund! In itself that is a disgrace, but
perhaps we shouldn't be surprised, seeing that Ran Erez and his staff are
being paid - not to mention the high powered and extremely expensive PR firm
that the Irgun is employing.
I have a number of questions to which we have a right to have answers from
the people who are representing us:
- How much is Ran Erez earning? The website does not tell us, and I think we
have a right to know.
- How much for Irgun staff expenses?
- How was Ran Erez elected? I know there is a council of wise men who voted
for a council of even wiser men, but the website does not go further than
that.
- Who is Ran Erez? Who was his predecessor?
In my opinion, the ONLY reason the Irgun called a strike was because the
Reform and wage agreement were signed with the Histadrut union. Had the
Irgun done the signing on their own, the Histadrut union would be on strike
now.
The strike has been handled very badly. I am not at all happy to be
represented by the Irgun. It doesn't add to my confidence to know that its
leader is getting his wages while I am not.
