Our Menoras are working fine, thanks.
YOu stick in the candle, light one end , say the blessing, and it all runs smoothly.
Imagine if we were using Maccabee XP 2000, an Illumination System for Windows. 

You'd come to light the candle, and you'd put the Shamash in its place,
and two other candles would jump out onto the floor becuase their fields had some default setting. Or you'd get a message that you are no longer able to access the oil. Or that your blessing will only work with earlier versions of the system and you must download the new version. 
Or all the candles would crash at the same time.

Thank God this doesn't happen with the candles.
But it is happening at this moment with my computer. Especially as I try to prepare a new funny piece for ETNI,
I have WORD xp on an illegal Windows xp that I've been meaning to replace at that special teacher's rate.
For years I have been embedding pictures in my texts. All of a sudden, for the past week or so, when I insert a picture into a document, then I click it so some kind of picture bar appears, and I click 'layout,', and a whole pack of little doggies show up, and I used to click the doggie in the middle, do 'OK' , and then the picture would have a little green handle on it and stay where I told it to.
No more. Now, all the pictures jump around with the text as if Shlomo Carlebach himself were performing for them, 'How much is that shaine doggie neshomma in the Windows?'.
If this was happening to my wife, she'd get all hysterical and blame me for changing the settings, and she'd probably be right.
But I have nobody to blame (except this could be retribution for three years ago when the previous computer malfunctioned and I fixed it by beating up on it), and I can't work this way.
Can anyone out there tell me what setting was changes so that the pictures won't behave, even though I went through all the steps?
