Subject: Texas newspaper request
Dear sir/madam,
The contrast of teaching poetry as cold formula and sharing it
as human experience impressed me in Dead Poets Society.
I'm hoping to include elements of that phenomenon in a
newspaper article advancing a local noncredit poetry class
beginning Oct. 2 at the University of Texas at Tyler's Longview
campus. Unfortunately, the teacher is out of town and my
deadline is Tuesday (9-27).
Can anyone there help me with either comments on getting to
the meat of a poem? I've been asked to 'analyze a poem' with
an expert: any suggestions/help there?
Thanks for any help,
Glenn Evans, staff writer
Longview (Texas) News-Journal
