To Whom it May Concern
I would like to teach English in Israel either in a school or in a corporate
environment.
I am wondering if you can help answer a few questions I have. First please
let me tell you a bit about myself.
I am a native English Speaker and was born in England. I moved to New
Zealand at aged 12. I have lived in England for 13 years. I lived in the
Royal County of Berkshire, including the town of Windsor (where the Queen's
castle is). I have taught in England and New Zealand. I am currently a
prestigious high school teacher at a state secondary school in Auckland. I
teach science and physics. I have been teaching for eight years. I have a
Bachelor of Science in Geology and Physics (Auckland University), and a
Diploma of Teaching (Auckland College of Education). Before I became a
teacher I worked for three years at a Science Museum, a High Court, and as a
exploration geologist. I'm 32 years old and have good fitness.
I have never been to Israel, but I have studied ancient Hebrew linguistics
and culture for the last two years. I can speak a little modern Hebrew, but
I want to learn much more. My great-grandmother might be Jewish but I have
no records to prove that, so I would have to come as a visitor/on a visa
somehow. I only have enough money to fly to Israel and get an
English-teaching certificate if need be over here in New Zealand.
But, I really want to live in Israel! I have friends who live there and more
who are moving there soon
So, my questions are -
1) Which exact certificate do I need to get before I come over?
2) Do I have to retrain once I come over?
3) How much would this retraining cost?
4) Do I have to know Hebrew fluently to teach English?
5) If you think I have no hope in getting a teaching job - then do you know
of any other job I could get with my education and credentials?
I would greatly appreciate your advice
Many thanks
Yours sincerely
Jane
