I promised to post Judy's response on ETNI, so here it is:

In response to your question, theoretically a student can take D in the 
winter and G in the summer.  However, it doesn't make much sense.

The only rule that exists about which modules can be taken relates to the 
summer and moed bet.  In moed bet, a student can either take the modules for 
the first time or he can be tested on any of the modules that are in the 
same level that in took in the summer moed.  For example, in the summer he 
took module D. In moed bet he can take either C, D or E as they are all in 
the four-point level.  He cannot take G.
