Subject: Humourous comfort for the weary
Noting the deafening silence on the etni list, apart from Esther Revivo, who
seems to have endless energy, I presume that everybody is wiped out after
yesterday's marathon.
So I thought I would post a true story which might bring a smile to your
lips.
In days gone by, in England, a friend of my mother's had a gardener who took
his annual holiday. He was well advanced in years, and shortly after
returning,he died. His friends asked my mother's friend if she would kindly
allow them to lay out the body in the huge entrance hall of her house, so
that his many friends could come and pay their last respects. She
consented, and a steady stream of his friends came to say farewell. Towards
the end of the day, two old codgers arrived and stood staring down at the
body.
"Cor! He ain't half brown, eh!
"Yeah," said the other, absolutely serious. "Looks like 'is 'oliday done 'im
good!
And on that note, I wish you all a wonderful, restful Shavuot break, and I
hope your holiday does you good without the outcome of the above anecdote.
