A colleauge and I were practicing the oral interview with students and were stumped while trying to figure out the English translation of

Av  or Em Beit?   אב בית or אם בית

This is the person who is in charge of youths in either a dormitory or a home for kids from problematic families.

"Proctor" is a possibility and so is "house mother/father". But I thought we could do better.
