Hi all,

I've just finished reading the ETNI mail from the last 3 days.
Quite addictive and I enjoy keeping up to date on the English teacher 
world!!!

Re the tapes or CDs:
I am responsible for the tapes for LD students in my school. We have an 
average of 30 tapes for every class yr in the school!!!!

Although tapes are kind of "ancient", so are CDs!!! No one has disk-mans 
anymore, they all have ipods or Mpvs or whatever.
Also disk-mans are twice or triple the price of walkmans.
Walkmans can still be bought for between 120-180 shekels.
Also, what I suggest to my students is to buy the old walkmans from senior 
students.

It is not realistic either for me to start taping on CDs which are not 
always reusable and also kids cannot rewind to listen to sentences again or 
to reread a paragraph - unless each paragraph is taped as a separate track - 
absolutely too much trouble for us.

My son suggested that it all be computerized, meaning that we would only 
have to make a file for each test and send it somehow to the email of each 
student when the test starts!! Which would be possible if we had the use of 
the computer lab during each test, and of course if we had 35 workable 
computers!!!!!!!!! But until each student has his own laptop, I don't think 
it a possibility - maybe in another 10 years!!!!

Therefore, I can't seem to see any other way, but to use tapes!!!!!
