We've been volunteering an hour a week for several years. It's not a
teaching hour -- it's what they call a "dialogue hour". We're expected to
meet with students, parents, etc. during this hour and to be available in
general. Although we're not paid for it, they often check to make sure
every teacher is where he/she is supposed to be.
