hi, how can you ever tell if the kids read a book or not? i don't think
that there is any foolproof way. if truth be told, if they are willing to spend
the time copying and/or looking for information without reading the book,
that's also worth something. also, if they win, they will have to do something
- either answer a question or dress up and go into classes or I don't know
what, i still have to think of something creative. (also, i have to remember
that this may be a 3 pointer). if you can think of anything let me know! btw,
2 great questions that i just found ( i also hate book reports) from linda
taharlev are: 1. the main character is going to the mall for sev eral things
he needs. Make his shopping list, include 10 items. justify each item by
explaining why this person would want or need to buy it. 2. choose a character
from the book and list the three wishes he would make if a genie popped out of
a bottle at his feet. support your choices with information from
the book. also, another great idea i received - Dear Sandy I think it's a
great idea! In order to encourage more students to read, why not offer a prize
for the class that reads the most books in all? You could ask your principal to
order pizzas for the whole class as a prize... Andrew Wilson sandy
