Thank you for this enlightening essay - you touched on the
essence of the confusion between ESL and EFL. As a former ESL
teacher in America, I often wonder what my students here actually
need to know (I teach elementary students). Some have American parents.
Others plan to travel to America, while others have no interest
in anything not Israeli. In University, many have to deal with
textbooks in English. I would like to know more about the
European system.
