I actually think it is a great idea, in theory.
A program such as this needs to be formed in addition to
the 'regular' classes in those subjects, which it will
not be, i am sure- the language of instruction and life
is after all Hebrew and cannot, mainly should not, be replaced.
Also, this should be performed in the lower grades, where
changes can be made, where the language of instruction will not
be challenged nor feared, but merely accepted, whether liked or
not. Most importantly, the article mentions that the teachers will
remain the same and will be instructed by English teachers-
whichever way it is done, do we really think there are enough
teachers who know English properly? I hate being
negative, but I have met so many English teachers (not to mention
teachers of other subjects...) who hardly manage the regular English
curriculum and have a level of English just adequate to perform the
relevant tasks; how many could give entire classes in English, really?
Again, if they start this with the first grade and as an additional
program-I say (though utterly skeptically)-Ko lechay.
