Sharon, I worked my guts out with hours of '05 summer/ recent
late afternoon revisions for my weak 4 pointers that didn't
believe in themselves and were slated to do only 3 til they
reached my classroom. We worked our backsides off!!!! Yes, you
are right; most of them could probably not pass the E ANYTIME.
However, due to what in MY opinion was a miserable exam, some may
get 10 or 17 point result,as opposed to 35- 45 minimum which they
definitely could have gotten in winter. (THEY DID ON THE MAGEN-
winter 2006 exam.) Yes, hopefully most will get the 4 pts. due to
the C,D and oral. But I greatly fear that I am going to have a
problem explaining tzionei magen with a difference of 30 points
with a few of my pupils.
Whoever mentioned earlier, why must we be prophets in giving the
Magen/ Shanat grades?? I agree 100% ; Pupils should get their
grades for all the guidelines we know so well: project and classwork;
attendance or lack thereof; tests; quizzes; matkonot; literature
tasks; etc.
Se la vi, thank heaven there is, at least, a Moed B. Boy, do I
envy lazy teachers which I'm proud to say English teachers are not!!!
I'm getting too old for this pressure at age 50!
Have a good week folks- Esther
