To add a few lines to David's message:
1. Every ISP will eventually get blacklisted or blacklist other ISPs
due to
spam reasons; in most cases this will be a wrong decision made by a
machine
and based on the number of spam messages allegedly sent from a specific
set
of addresses. However, the sender's address that appears in a message
and
the real address the message originates from are usually two different
addresses: it's part of the way viruses work. They disguise the real
origin
of the message by substituting it with one stolen from an address book
of an
infected computer. A human would figure it out by checking the
so-called
full headers; a machine won't go to such lengths - slamming someone as
a
spammer is easier.
So switching ISPs is probably not a good option - it's like chasing
your own
tail, sort of.
2. you don't have to use the e-mail box provided by your ISP (Internet
Service Provider) if it bounces so many messages. Subscribe for a
third-party e-mail service like Hotmail.com - and get all the mail you
need
by configuring the filters the way you want.
3. Using a web-mail account (Hotmail-type - the one you read ONLINE
using a
WEB BROWSER, unlike POP mail which you read OFFLINE with a MAIL CLIENT
program like Outlook or Eudora) is also a good idea because most of
them
offer an antivirus scan service - they scan your mail with the most
updated
version of an anti-virus software BEFORE you get a chance to access it.
Of
course this is a slower way of mail reading, and you have to be online
all
the time, so it's mostly good for those who have a permanent DSL
connection
(broadband).
4. You can separate the two streams of mail - use your hotmail account
for
your business mail (including ETNImail) and your ISP-provided box for
private mail.
Feel free to ask further questions offlist if you have a specific
problem -
I'll be glad to lend a hand.
Best -
Lev
