Hi everyone,
Jennifer asks the following:
"I need to know whether tapes are still given to students whose
only problem is technical reading, or are they read to by a teacher."
If a student has 'hakra'at she'elon' for English written in his/her
assessment, this means that he is given a taped cassette for
all exams in English. The fact that some schools have a teacher
read to the students is only because either the teachers refuse to
produce tapes for exams since they don't get paid for it, or
because the level of spoken English of the teachers in the
school is not at native level and therefore, a taped version
would difficult for a student to listen to.
Our English team manages to produce lots of tapes by having
one native speaker teacher volunteer to record the text and
then other teachers volunteer to produce copies.
We do this for all tests.
Enjoy life,
Patricia
