I'd like to ask for some help here with a new pupil of mine; she's got serious 
learning disabilities and has been placed in my 5 point 11th grade class.  She 
has absolutely no grasp of syntax. This shows itself both in her written and 
oral English.  
  
Here is an example of her writing from a literature test on a poem we studied 
in class. ("Waiting" by Maris Mohr) 
  
"Will i'm reading the poem the picture thet drow my mind inclod a wemon that 
standing naer the widow at hear hose will outsid ther is the Yom kippur War. 
.......she is full in filings by waiting in this silence. I think the writer 
want to pass does filling thet feel this women by special techniques..." 
  
I could write more but think this is enough to give you the idea. I've been 
asked to give her extra special help lessons in our after-school help program. 
I told the school that she needs and LD expert but was told I could do it. Our 
school is off-the-beaten-track and there are no experts nearby.  I'm not sure 
where to begin. By the way, when I tried testing her orally she spoke  exactly  
as she wrote. Her "hatamot" include: extra time, reading to her the test and 
she's supposed to record her answers.  
  
I'm feeling very frustrated here ..all help appreciated.
