Shalom English Teachers Association of Israel,
Do you perhaps know, whether anybody in the Ministry of Education
(or elsewhere) takes care of the pronounciation of English in Israel's
schools?
As you know, the learning of English is encumbered not only by the
lose relation between meaning, spelling, and pronouncing ("Currently I
read the red book that you read last year") but by the geographical
variation in pronounciation. Not only between UK and USA (ignoring S Afr
and Australia) but even within each. Is anybody in charge of
distinguishing hot from hut?
     Thanks for any attention,
                                 Yehudah Werner
