Hi everyone,
Last call for registration for some very special courses offered at
David Yellin College, Jerusalem, for working with students with
SEN--special educational needs.
Introduction to Assistive Technology is a new course this year. This is
a "one-of-a-kind" course offered by one of the country's leaders in
using special technology and techniques for working with students of all
ages with a wide range of learning problems and disabilities. Also
covered is how to adapt material for all types of students, and teaching
students to take control of their computers and its settings, as well as
adapt their own material, to make their material more accessible--and of
course, encourage student independence. Lots of resources will be
introduced, and students can also learn about accessible web pages and
the "A, B, C's" of building them. So take the first step for getting
rid of those pesky tapes!
Intro to AT, 56 hours, (full year) is offered on Mondays, 5:30-7
beginning after the holidays; there will be a combination of F2F
(face-to-face) sessions, vists to special AT centers, and on-line work.
Reoffered is the intensive "working with SEN" 128 hour hishtalmut: an
introductory course; an advanced course where students choose the areas
of speciality, and supervised tutoring in a variety of challenging and
fascinating settings. Explore the world of special learners in a very
motivatingatmosphere--learn how to bypass or rehabilitate dyslexia,
attention problems, and the wide range of physical, emotional,
intellectual and learning problems that often prevent our students from
reaching their full potential in regular classrooms. Teachers will also
have a chance to learn about virtual resources, and use technology in
their own practice, and as tool for working with SEN.
These courses are offered on Wednesdays, 10:30-1, with supervision added
during the second semester.

course has its own!)
