There's an additional problem that has nothing to do with English. In many
schools, general composition writing/planning skills are not taught until
right before the bagrut in the 12th grade.
Israeli students are not taught how to outline, organize their thoughts,
etc. Summarizing usually is in university. The general academic skills the
students need to do well in 5 point English have to be taught by us,
instead of their having it as prior knowledge.
This causes us to waste our limited English time on things they can learn
more easily and more quickly in Hebrew.
