Aha, I seem to recall classes were 40 minutes. Maybe that's why we had so
many subjects. In fact, to further point this out, in Gr. 13 I took not only
'analytical geometry' and 'trig' as I mentioned, but also 'algebra' - so
three maths. Length of class must be the defining factor here.
In LA we had one hour classes and phys ed every day. Friday was a free
period in phys ed, so you could do whatever you wanted. If the weather was
fine, which was par for the course, they lifted up one wall of the swimming
pool the led onto a patio with table tennis or you could exit the patio and
play volleyball or basketball on the courts, horseshoes, archery, golf
putting, track and I'm sure there was something else I am missing. Ah, the
California life style, at least in the late 50's, early 60's.
