As a person who took part in the CAT course this past year, it was
interesting to see the requirements/expectations for upcoming courses:
"CAT: 56 hour course with 1/2 gmul with grade. The course meets twice f2f
once at the beginning and once at the end. All other sessions take place
over the internet at the course website. You should expect to spend 5 hours
a week on course related work..."
Those of us who took the course were very vocal in saying that we believe
the course is worth a full gmul. Or, if one looks at the numbers: 5 hours a
week x half a year (vacations included) = at least a full gmul of 120 hours.
Who do we turn to in the ministry in a case like this? I am in no way being
critical of TAMID or Renee Wahl who enable us to do on-line courses for
which I am grateful. My question is directed to those who dictate the weight
of a course. Every half gmul is that little bit more in our salary and all
who did the course this year definitely put in the hours to justify it. I am
still hoping enough people look at the simple math and demand a change.
