[etni] Blooper fever

Hi,

I only find bloopers funny when they contain some sort of ambivalent
meaning, pun, inappropriate and incongruous use of a word, mistaken
translation, or other elements that I can't think of at the moment. This,
for example makes me smile:

"I was born on a seat" ? i.e. "noladeti bemoshav".

Although I realize that not everyone has the same taste in humour, I still
feel uncomfortable about making light of the regular mistakes collected from
the summer exam.

Firstly, these kids are oblivious to the fact that the products of their 3-4
hours of input during the exam have become the source of our mirth.

Secondly, WHAT ON EARTH are we going to do about this bad writing? After
all, these are "all our students", aren't they?

Let's think practically:
How about trying to analyze the mistakes and compile a huge combined list of
teaching points we should use and emphasize?
I once compiled a list that I called "The ABC of correct spelling and
grammar". http://ziv.jerusalem.k12.il/engabc.html .I obviously need to use
it more seriously!

I suggest that anyone who has already compiled something similar should
forward it to me. I undertake to put all the material together to create a
new and revised list of teaching points for all of us to use in the coming
year (and to upload it to the internet).

Happy Shavuot,
Ora Baumgarten
