I can remember this discussion - whether to permit anonymous postings on
ETNI - a few years back (I bet so does Motti...), and if I am not mistaken,
at that time the majority spoke in favo(u)r of letting people post
anonymously (or so we were led to believe by David...).
Contentwise, I regret to see postings like this appear, no matter whether
they were anonymous or signed.
However, unless another poll is offered, and its results indocate that your
tolerance to anonymous postings has changed, you'll have to accept this
option as a fact.
In the spirit of my previous posting: I would suggest something else. If you
remember, I have written that the real enemy is the school administration.
The list should probably include the Ministry inspectors of various rank,
and others who cooperate with the ministry or are affiliated with it due to
their official and/or unofficial positions (consultants, counselors,
instructors, etc).
The "ideal" solution that would enable rank-and-file teachers to speak
freely on this list, without fear of getting fired for their views and their
criticism of the system, would be to ensure that the list is for teachers
only. Then you could sign your postings and not feel scared.
Before quitting teaching in school, I was quite reluctant to say things
that could be viewed unfavo(u)rably by Judy Steiner (and when I did write
something to that effect, David would usually filter my message).
Fortunately, I can now afford saying what I really think; I wonder to what
extent the list is open to such postings. However, one thing I know for
sure: I have always signed my postings.
I am sending this to David - and to several people on the list I know
personally, as a safeguard. If this message never reaches you via the list,
at least you will know what degree of political freedom you are given in
that case, please forward the message to as many colleagues as you can,
folks.
Supportively yours -
Lev
