[etni] Re: Abolish the Bagrut - DON'T DO IT

Yes, the Bagrut desperately needs to be changed, but consider this:

Until the mid 1960's, Canada also had standardized, matriculation exams. Since they were abolished, the universities no longer have a fair and unbiased method to judge students, so instead, they look at the region/school from which the applicant comes and use that to interpret the marks.

This means that a student from a "good school" who has average marks may be accepted while a student from a "weak school" who has top marks may be rejected. Can you imagine this system here, in The Land of Proteksia?

Perhaps a voluntary "S.A.T." system for university applicants *only*, like they have in the U.S.A., would work better. This puts the onus on the students, and not on the school.
