Dear Etniers,
I'd really like to compare notes with you all about how you are returning the
lost strike hours in your schools. While I understand that the "Irgun" has
published a protocol - I still hear that there are lots of interesting
"variations". Do any of you work in a school like mine, that was open and
working as usual during the strike? This means that pupils are disgruntled to
say the least about coming in on their holidays to make up hours and the school
is not very interested in actually being open on those days.
What about making up the hours in school time? Apart from extra tutoring which
I am doing at every possible chance. I understand we are allowed to go out on
"tiyulim" however, in my school we have been told that if we miss "teaching
days" for "tiyulim" we CANNOT count the extra hours! (i.e. the number of hours
that the tiyul exceeds frontal hours missed in the classroom on the same day).
This does not seem fair to me. While the Irgun clearly states that we are
allowed hours for afternoon exams, my principal pulled faces when I wrote down
the hours of the winter bagrut which I came in especially for, as he says they
are not actually "legal"???
I'd really like to hear from colleagues about how reasonable/unreasonable the
management in their schools is concerning making up the hours.
Best wishes to you all,
Judi G.
