[etni] 9th grade compositions

My relatively strong 9th graders  ( a class of 25 students ) have been 
producing a weekly minimum 300 word composition since the beginning of the 
year. The weekly composition is their only written homework. The results 
surprised even me. There are 3 students who resist the assignment stubbornly, 
but the rest cooperate very well. At least a third actually enjoy it immensely. 
This is hard work for the teacher (checking takes about 5 hours), but extremely 
rewarding: there is no better opportunity to watch the students improving on a 
weekly basis in front of your very eyes. My corrections are light, usually 
focusing on one ( mostly two) persistent problem. They did complain at the 
beginning (they don't write that much in Hebrew!) but as they can watch their 
own progress, they are now quite appreciative of both the idea and their 
teacher.
