Now reverted to 3X3 arrangement, I've concluded that the increased likelihood
of 'missing' with bigger-number / smaller-size bins is a problem. And now it
uses gesture _vertices_ only. So we can still do V^<> with 3X3.
svn now has smoothing (I think the actual term for this sort of line-cleanup is
'simplification'). And multi-button config is working. So we're about ready to
do some serious testing ...
