Hey Tom and all,
I noticed that prior to 0.3.6, EmelFM2 does not appear in any xdg menus. Investigating, I found the 'Category' line should contain at least 1 registered category. I see also, as of 0.3.6, you have chosen 'System' as the registered category.
I think 'Utility' is a better fit. If you review the specifications for 'System' and 'Utility', I believe you'll see the related fields for 'FileManager' seem to be recommended, but do not have any basis. Must be a doc bug. :)

To me EmelFM2 is a utility (the very best utility, I might add), but a utility.
It is a minor point of contention, but others having a 'System vs. Utility' preference in 'xdg menus' could provide some feedback here.
