Well, pardon my reply to self, but...
The pane2-sort-column=-2 setting is found in the cache file, not
the config file. Just deleting that line is enough to return e2
to normal operation.
The devs will know this, of course, but for the sake of anyone else
reading, I felt I should clear that up.
