I think you're going to like this one.It was done pixel by pixel using

colors directly from various gtk-stock icons (mainly gtk_stock_add and

gtk_stock_undo).Also changed from an "A" to an "E" so I didn't have to

deal with the jaggies cropping up on the angle sides.
Yes everything is bunched together but that was on purpose. The only
way to space them better is to make all the objects even smaller. If I
do that then it looks really smeared at 16x16 and I'm sure that some
folks would prefer that over the original size.
Let me know what you think.

hey,

i really like it. exchanging the A was a great idea! now, i hope you
also have bigger versions of the icon, too? (as not everybody will use
the smallest possible icon size for their toolbars). is it possible to
import it into some svg editor? Arnout has mentioned that sodipodi can
do it, i'll have to try it.

No larger sizes just yet.If you take a look in /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/gtk/ (may be in a different dir on your system) most of the stock icons are 24x24 except for those used in dialog boxes. In order for me to get the rename icon too match I had to create it at that size.Yes it is possible to to make larger versions and if you want them I'll start work on it.
Please understand,if anyone changes the size to "dialog" from the "icon size context menu" then all the stock icons will be nothing but stretched versions of the original (see attached image "toolbar_dialog.jpg".The dialog option view is at 68x68 right? Also added the following for comparison:

drag 'n' drop (toolbar_dnd.jpg)
toolbar_large (toolbar_large.jpg)

What I'm trying to say is this,if they use the toolbar context menu to change the icon size on the fly then there will be no need for a lager rename icon. All of them will have a slight blur to them and match.
If they actually edit the toolbar's preferences and change that icon to a larger size while leaving the others as defualt then some will be blurred and the ones they changed won't.Really hope that makes sense. :)

There is a problem I'm having with Inkscape and Sodipodi with alpha channels.Everytime I save an image in svg it turns out to be 80% transparent and the colors are all wrong in apps such as the Gimp or eog.Open it back up in Inkscape and Sodipodi and it looks just fine.I'm obviously doing something very wrong and will have to figure it out.
One last thing, since the new icon was created at 24x24 it will look very jagged at sizes such as 48x48 even in svg format.Thats a major limitation of working per pixel with any format.

Rule of thumb:
Create large item and scale it down just to suffer from blurriness.
Create small item and scale it up just to suffer from jaggies.
There must be a way around all of that but I haven't found it yet. :)
