Re: Rename icon (new variation)

Hello,

My experiences with icons are that when you make large icons that will be down-scaled to small proportions, that they always get a bit less sharp. If you wan't to make an icon that looks even sharp at 16x16 you'd better start at 16x16 pixels in the gimp.

Figured out that the color depth also has a lot to do with it.When the depth is reduced on scaled down images it isn't as blured. Was actually thinking of trying out the Gnome icon editor.Kind of figure that is what was used for the original gkt-stock set considering there are no icons larger than 24x24.

Inkscape is indeed the most promising.

On my system,Inkscape has a bad habit of crashing right in the middle of a project.Hope they fix that in the near future.

If it only would get an decent layers-menu.....

So thats why I couldn't find one :)

(by the way, my sodipodi does also import .jpg, .png,...)

Just gave it another try and sure enough mine does too. Can't figure out why it wouldn't do it before.

If you can get (or afford) Illustrator you shouldn't hesitate, it works great.

Thats good to know.Looks like I'll be bugging my budy for while. We are both so busy that its hard to catch each other.Really am curious about the program.
