According to David Jensen's recent post, we'd also need GConf, ORBit2 and 
gnome-mime-data.

And indeed, independence from any DE has always been a goal of e2. One of the 
reasons for the feedback request.

Maybe somebody knows where to get documentation on the mc vfs library ?
