When e2 checks for and if necessary creates its config dir, if the specified 
(or default) config dir is not ~/.emeflm2, then of course that will not be 
created. In that case, and if that dir does not exist already, then trying to 
create there a sub-dir for trash will fail. Hence the error message.

I've now made sure that the fallback trash directory is in the config 
directory, whatever that is. That means that if you specify such a directory 
(in a startup command, code patch etc), you do not need to also specify the 
trash directory. For you, (from next release) no more ~/.emeflm2/Trash, but 
~/.config/emelfm2/Trash instead.

In the meantime, you could run the application by: emelfm2 
-t=/home/<whatever>/.config/emelfm2/Trash
