i was hoping to get some icons where the GTK STOCK system is lacking, at
first. E.g. the icon for the move button are scissors in the default gtk
theme. this is not really appropriate because scissors mean'cut', not
'move'. though, there is no 'move' stock icon which e2 could possibly
use. the mkdir button and the rename button have the same problem.
to see all stock icons there are in your current gtk theme, you could
use the image select dialog (open config dialog -> select toolbar->
double click on an icon). another possibility is the gtk-demo
program(run gtk-demo -> double click 'Stock Item and Icon Browser').

i think the most future-proof format is SVG. from this format, you can
get an icon in any size/format without quality loss.

i guess, to make most users happy, make them go along well with the
default gtk theme and default stock icons.

something is always better than nothing. :)
please note that there are already some icons contributed by users (see
the ./icons directory) but these are only available in small size, that
is 24x24 pixel and smaller.

well, maybe later on, but for now, the wiki works really nice as a
project homepage. we'd just need some more people adding some contents
to it.
