I visited Hooper Lane the morning of 11/29/16 in hopes of seeing the Brewer's
Blackbird. Luckily Wayne Forsythe was in his van by the stubble corn field
before the bridge with his spotting scope. Thanks Wayne for letting me see the
Brewer's through the scope that were at least 100 feet away in the middle of
the field, too far away for good looks even with binoculars. There was also an
abundance of Killdeer and Red-winged Blackbirds. The small flock of Brewer's
and 30-40 Killdeer would fly away and return to the same field throughout the
morning. They were actually closer when in the air when flying by than when on
the ground. I got a few decent flight shots of these birds. A Cooper's Hawk
was seen across the field in the trees, and later in the morning Turkey
Vultures began making their rounds. It was a good morning, the Brewer's being
a Lifter for me!
