I have even more fun watching my bro-in-law's and Dad's city league softball
teams play.

My bro-in-law's Tuesday night team finished the year at 11-1 and swept the
year-end tournament.  In the first game of the tournament, they were down 4-2
(NOT a normal softball score) into the bottom of the last (7th) inning ... and
scored 3 runs with no outs to win 5-4.

Dad's Friday night team (thankfully) still have two more games to go before the
end of their season.  They are 6-6 right now, but had a stunning win last
Friday night.  The other team scored 7 runs in the top of the 4th to take a
seemingly insurmountable 11-4 lead.  Their defense was impeccable, but in the
bottom of the 7th inning, with them leading now 13-4, their defense COLLAPSED
... LITERALLY ... and Dad's team scored 10 runs to win 14-13 ... 8 of those
runs came with NO outs.

And, Jared, sounds like you had a great trip!  I, too, LOVE listening to
baseball on the radio.  The Cubs' Pat Hughes describes the game perfectly.  The
Sox radio team suffered, in my opinion, when John Rooney bolted for St Louis.
"Back in the day" when the Cubs played only day games and Mom and Dad's '76
Monte Carlo only had an AM radio, on the way home from Dad's games on Friday
nights, we'd listen to the Sox game ... John Rooney and Ed Farmer.  Farmer is
still there, but he and Darrin don't seem to have the same chemistry ... and it
isn't as exciting to listen to.  I was
thrilled the last few times I've been in the STL area to listen to John Rooney
again.

BTW ... if you're interested, Pat Hughes is doing a series called "Baseball
Voices".  I have the Harry Caray book/CD and might buy a few others:

You know what's fun? A minor league game - you're that much closer to
the action and you get involved. I could care less who's winning, I
just want to be close enough to feel a part of it. My wife's firm
summer outing was a minor league game in Tennessee a few years ago. I
had a lot of fun, the game ended with a walk-off homer and fireworks -
you can't beat that.

Even though we have the Braves I think there is a minor league team
reasonably close now... wouldn't mind checking out Arena Football or a
Hockey game as well, haven't seen either of those.
