                  Exactly. I love driving my friends 3/4 ton 6.0. It's a joy
to drive and I would love one but in town it's more like 12 (a year before
cyl deactivation). But there like you said many other vehicles don't get any
better mileage. The GFs PT cruiser gets 22 on the freeway and lower in town.
A friends same year but auto gets 25+ and has quite a bit more get up and
go. No better than a 1/2 ton truck...

                 I wonder how much the mileage on some of the larger
vehicles now could be raised by gutting all the extra weight out of them.
Cars have so much crap in them now that people have to have but they don't
realize that stuff adds weight. A mid size or often small car now weighs as
much or more than the 70s cars....
