Today, I took the pigtail for the trans that I kept from the parts car (for
just such an occasion) and wired it to a hot, and a momentary switch. Then I
grounded the same pin that the kit grounded to the case. The lockup worked
flawlessly. In 2, 3, or OD whenever I hit the switch. It let go every time I
released it too. BIG difference in RPM's when this locks and should save a
lot of gas, and keep it from heating up too.

Before doing this, I called tech support. They wanted me to try a hot
directly to verify that the lockup worked.

After the test, I hooked up the unit again, and it worked great for the
first 5 or 10 minutes (just like before) but then it would lock up, and not
release, even hitting the defeat switch.

I called B&M and they gave me an RA # to send it back to them and it went
out today. I didn't have to send all the wiring and the speed sensor, just
the control unit itself. So when it comes back, all I have to do is plug it
in at the dash.

At least I know the lockup works. Now all I have to do is wire the brake
switch in. I did it on the Elky, I just have to wait till my next day off on
Tuesday next week, unless I get the inspiration to warm up the garage before
then.

Car Club was productive again today. I really enjoy working with the kids.
We just have one more hole in the floor to patch, behind the passenger seat
brace. It may get done before the holidays, but there are no more meetings
till January. Attached are a couple pictures. Today, one of the kids stopped
me from getting my hands in there, and said "I'll get this, save your back".
(Tom told them I was limited on one of the first days I was there) That was
over the top to me, and impressed me a lot. I don't generally do things that
I know are stupid on my back, but it was nice to sit back and watch the work
being done for a change.

It was a great day in auto land. Colder than shit, but still productive.
