Won't be doing the trip to Austin, so I won't be looking at the 400 ci woodgrain El Camino in North Texas.  That car will have to go to some other person with strange taste in cars!

I just shot the Autorama in Salt Lake City.  There was a guy who had a booth advertising his wood grain painting business.  Here's what he showed:

He also has a 46 Chevy pickup with all the trim done in wood grain finish.  I'm sure he could do yer Sprint...but if it was me, I'd make it the finishing touch.

Oh...the Autorama photos:

I like your style Saul. Not everyone is in to this model, and I am not a huge fan, but I appreciate them. As for the Woodie's, we had a 1971 Olds Custom Cruiser that was the medium metallic green with the wood vinyl. It was the 'look' back then.

There are people painting real flames that look really cool, and even though it would probably be expensive, I would think paint would hold up better if you could find someone that specialized in it. You would really be taking a leap if it was real veneer.

My Sprint has some parts from a junkyard 73 Sprint that had the woodgrain package.  It was pretty faded.
