I really don't understand the connection between teaching braille and
using ascii to transcribe it. A student learning Braille, blind or
sighted, is going to learn it on a Perkins (or possibly using a slate and
stylus). A person teaching Braille does have to know from memory the dots
necessary to produce each symbol. Other than that, I don't find any
problem using any transcribing method which produces correct
results--typing, ascii Braille, or six-key entry.
