It sounds like you have a dialog of some kind open at the bottom left
of your screen - suggested by the "continue cancel".

I have just started having this problem today. When I use
insert-pagedown to hear the status line in Duxbury jaws says "current
style none, page one, continue cancel."I used to hear the column
number.
