[duxuser] Wish list & Re: Re: Command line options for DBT for windows (ver10.4)

Hi,

I wonder if there is any way to have a command line which would open DBT
with a supplied filename .DOC .WPD or .TXT then translate and emboss it.

I have a number of requirements for this sort of option. My appointment book
may change many times a day and certainly in a week so to get a rapid
translation would be exquisite. I use an old DOS app, Hot Dots and DOS batch
processing to achieve that now. I do a similar thing to produce waiting
lists but it would be a good thing to do in Windows.

If anyone has the ear of the developers this is a function I would really
like. Maybe a VBA macro language and process that could be called from the
command line?

Thanks.

Hi Andy,

I'll let you into a secret. We use command lines in SWIFT.

If you really know what you are doing, you can use the following which I
have extracted from the old DOS version, but you will need to substitute
"dbt" for "dbtw" if you have the Windows version.

Examples of DBT usage: Explanation:

dbt (start DBT in the normal way)
 dbt /? (display this message)
dbt duxfile.dxp (start DBT with DUXFILE.DXP already open)
 dbt wpfile.doc (import WPFILE.DOC)
 dbt duxfile.dxp wpfile.doc (open DUXFILE.DXP and import WPFILE.DOC)
dbt /braille wpfile.doc (emboss WPFILE.DOC and exit DBT)
dbt /b wpfile.doc /p duxfile.dxp (emboss WPFILE, print DUXFILE and exit)

(Note: DBT uses a default template for /b and /p on imported files.)
