I'm sorry I didn't get back to you, Paul, but I have all my settings corrected now. I only had one wrong, and now it's fixed. Thanks. Now I have to go into the DBT to see if I have all those settings right. Yes, I also meant to tell you that I have the 11.5 x 11 inch paper. I have my paper out detector on, however. ----- Original Message ----- From: Paul Hunt To: duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, September 29, 2002 2:37 PM Subject: [duxuser] Re: Versapoint Duo Hello PPhyllis. Before I list the settings, a bit about menus. there are sixteen of them. You can create different settings in each menu and you can tell the versapoint duo which menu to use aas a default. Menus control configurations. I use configuration 1 I.e. Menu 1. To get into it, put the versapoint duo off line and from the keypad, press 0.1# The # or pound key is the bottom right key of the keypad and the . is the bottom left hand key on the keypad. To view configuration 1's parameters, enter menu 1 and type 1.r# where r is the read key. The parameters will be embossed for you. If you have speech things may work a little differently. Here are the settings in order. 1 menu 1- ibm 2 active data port parallel 3 baud rate 2400 4 data bits 7 5 stop bits 1 6 parity even 7 com. mode ASCII printer busy is dtr high when read host busy is cts 9 six dot braille 10 word wrap off 11 perf skip on 12 paper out detector off (be careful with this one, I turned it off because I had problems getting a false paper out error. If you turn this off, be sure you are near the embosser. You don't want it to run out of paper and keep embossing because this could cause damage. 13 audo line feed off 14 right margin 40 15 left margin 1 16 emboss control characters off 17 lines per page 27 18 page length 11.0 inches 19 multistrike count 1 20-21 control table contains cr 22 hot zone off 23 recognize escape sequences 24 vconsole bell point 0 25 speech on speak escape sequences 26 local echo off 27 braille format six dot computer 28 screen dump mode off 29 character set usa no extended character set 30 top of form offset 2 31 ignore eight bit 32 auto print setting 0 33 interpoint mode 34 paper grade 0 35 regular size 36 voice 0 Here are the duxbury settings I use Brailler Versapoint Duo Treat as interpoint embosser is checked emboss banner page is not checked maximum characters per line 40 brailler goes to new line when filled is not checked maximum lines per page 27 brailler goes to new page when filled is not checked desired characters per line 40 (if using narrower paper, decrease this setting) desired lines per page 26 top margin in lines 0 binding margin in characters 0 lpt1 the last setting will vvary depending on how your embosser is connected. I hope these settings work for you. I've been using them for about nine months now. The manual is very good and describes exactly how to set everything. It also tells you how to reset the system and how to print not only entire menus but individual parameters. Good luck to you and enjoy using the versapoint duo. One last thing, there is a rocker switch that needs to be in the left position to allow you to emboss interpoint. I'm still reading the manual and am trying to figure out which menu to go into to do the necessary configurations. I know the service menu is for the speech settings, most of them anyway. I'm thankful that we Duxusers are able to help each other in this manner, even though we don't know each other personally. I'll get back later. Take care and God Bless. So long for just a while. I use a Versapoint Duo and will pass my settings along to you this evening. I have to do some Brailling later today. I assume that you are using11 by 11 and a half paper. I'll pass along the duxbury settings as well. Once you get things configured correctly, you'll love it. -----Original Message----- From: duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of phyllisbono Sent: Friday, September 27, 2002 6:23 PM To: duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxuser] Versapoint Duo I'm a brand new user of DBT, and I have a Versapoint Duo Braille embosser. I would like to know if I should configure my embosser to computer Braille to have it emboss in Grade II. If anybody has a versapoint Duo out there, please help me. Also, If I wanted to print a Braille file off the internet, should I copy and paste it into the DBT Win?
