I used a USB to parallel cable for a while with my new Dell computer, and it seemed to be causing some problems. So, I had a parallel port installed, and I have had better luck.

Hi Keren, I'm no expert here, but here's the theory. I suspect the most important thing here is whether or not you were able to emboss your files from DOS. The next is whether or not your USB converter creates a "Virtual LPT Port" which can be seen in Device Manager. This will usually appear as LPT2 or LPT3. (I'll assume lpt3 below) From the command prompt type print >lpt3 filename.brl And press Enter. If you are very luck, things will start to print. (But no guarantees! Smile) George. -----Original Message----- From: duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Keren Hedges Sent: 10 January 2007 10:41 To: duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [duxuser] Re: USB to parallel converter? George that explanation was fantastic. Can you give instructions on how to sent a .brl file straight to the embosser via a USB converter? The exact stuff to write on that black screen? When I find it, the command prompt says: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. C:\Documents and Settings\Keren1> I know it's off list topic, I did email you directly asking for help. I've got loads of .brl files of maps and graph paper that I used years ago. I would love to be able to emboss them again.
