Hello,
I thought you had to do a certification manuscript to become certified, not
just
a course? Thank you.

They don't certify you but give you what you need to work in a school setting
with blind students.

Jane, I don't think those Hadley courses would qualify you for a certification
in braille transcription. They are courses for literary braille for students
who
are blind or sighted family members or professionals working in the field of
blindness.

Check Hadley School of the Blind - on line courses - I took uncontracted and
contracted braille (and completed both) in 2 months.

Catalina & Tristan,

Try NLS<http://www.loc.gov/nls/>. I took my course to be certified in
transcribing literary braille through them years ago & received my refresher
course through NBA<http://www.nationalbraille.org/>. You can check both to see
what they have to offer. APH<http://www.aph.org/> may be another resource
you'll need for materials. The CNIB<http://www.cnib.ca/en/> is a also a
resource for individuals in Canada.

All the best!
Janet
