If the documentation says that, then the documentation is wrong.
It works perfectly well with the tables of other languages. It is just that
most people wouldn't want to use French hyphenation conventions in a language
other than French. If, however, you aren't "most people", DBT will cheerfully
accommodate you.

According to the DBT Help documentation, the French hyphenating option will
only work if you're using the French language tables. I suspect that
Doreen is not, and therefore that option won't work, unless the
documentation is wrong.
