Usually, nothing audible happens, and the codes just go away. I wonder if there's a Window-Eyes .set file for DBT, and if that's making the computer ding. Usually, the ding is what happens when you press a key that isn't being used, or you've somehow jumped outside the window of the program you're trying to run.
