For the benefit of anyone who is asked by technical support
what version of Index they have.

Version III embossers talk when switched on, and have FOUR
ports on the back. Serial, Parallel, USB and Network
(RJ45).

Version II embossers also talk, but only have TWO ports,
Serial and Parallel.

Version I embossers do NOT talk, and also only have two
ports.

George.

        Morning George,

Really keen to get involved with this - we have a
Basic D here which is rarely (if ever) used. Though I'm not
sure what version. I'll find out and get back to you, so
would you keep us in mind please??

I'm looking for one or two Moon specialists who
would be prepared to help me begin to test a facility we
have created for producing "Dotty" Moon on some Index
embossers using DBT. If you are interested, please read on.
There are some special requirements for the initial testing.

First, you will need to have a Version 3 Index
Embosser. Ideally a Basic S or D, or an Everest, preferably
with version 10.25 or above firmware.

Second, there is a need to upload a specially
created Moon Font to the embosser. This will overwrite the
existing letter graphic character set already in the
embosser, so if you need letter graphics, this may not be
for you.

Third. At this stage I would like to have one or
two sighted testers, since there may be a need to take
precise measurements, and also reposition some of the dot
positions.

If you meet the above requirements and are
interested, please contact me OFF LIST at george@xxxxxxxxxx
